"Don't Believe in God? Move to Seattle."

By Paolo E.T. Hugo

In 2015, NPR wrote an article that suggested that if people want to explore personal beliefs without any traditional institution, pursue spirituality outside of organized religion, or completely detach from cultural and family-of-origin affiliations and expectations, then Seattle is the best place to relocate to. Its tone was gentle, but certainly advocated that this was a city where you could experience freedom from church. This added to the burden in Filmore and Caitlin Bouldes' hearts as they began the labor for a new church community in 2024.

One Church, located in the International District neighborhood, is just shy of a year old and has already seen 99 people give their lives to Jesus. We look forward to sharing the some of these unique and beautiful stories, but for now celebrate with us! It's been 10 years since this NPR article and the beautiful city of Seattle might still have 99 problems, but the lack of True Freedom ain't one.

You

Thank you for your partnership! Here are some ways you can partner in ministry this month:

  • If your church wants to explore partnership to help plant churches in cities like Seattle, reach out to Luke Greer, and he can tell you more.
  • Take a moment to specifically pray for spiritual covering over Filmore & Caitlin Bouldes and church unity in this city.
  • Give thanks with a whole heart for the way God is on the move in cities all around the world!
  • Forward this email to a friend! We always want the number of prayer partners to be growing for the sake of new churches and the communities they serve.
