How and Why Cities Are Coming Back
The truth is that we are living at a moment in which the massive outward migration that characterized the second half of the twentieth century is coming to an end. And we need to adjust our perceptions of cities, suburbs, and urban mobility as a result. -Alan Ehrenhalt
The trends of economic activity in the last half century are beginning to reverse itself. Activity that once flowed to the suburbs is now shifting towards cities. We are in the midst of a massive global urbanization. And cities are disproportionately unreached. The world's growing cities need the gospel.
Since 1995, we have helped start 31 new churches in cities from coast to coast across the U.S. Those churches are growing and reaching more than 20,000 people every week. Those churches are planted in America's hubs of influence where they have the most potential to impact our centers of government, education, arts, and finance.
Currently all four of our executive leaders have personally planted churches in Boston, New York, Las Vegas, Chicago, San Francisco, Mexico City, Bangkok and Nagoya, Japan. We believe God has prepared us for such a time as this! Will you join us?
